Everything you need to know about Haviq.
General
What is Haviq?
Haviq is a mobile app for planning and coordinating group events. Whether you're organizing a weekend trip, potluck dinner, or family reunion, Haviq brings all your planning into one place — menu coordination, expense splitting, voting, and more.
Who is Haviq for?
Haviq is for adults planning personal, non-commercial events with friends, family or other groups, such as potlucks, weekend trips and camping. Account holders must be 18 or older. Children can be represented in adult-managed household records, but cannot have independent accounts. Sharing genuine personal-event costs is allowed; using Haviq to run or promote a business or commercial event is not.
What platforms does Haviq support?
Haviq’s initial New Zealand rollout, including Beta, is planned for Android and iOS. Access may become available at different times on each platform. Beta access is controlled rather than a general public app-store release. Use the contact form for current access enquiries.
Do I need an account?
Yes. Sign in using your phone number and a one-time SMS code. You must be at least 18. Before continuing into Haviq, you must complete the Terms of Use, Privacy Policy and 18+ acknowledgements. Phone verification confirms access to a phone number; it does not verify age.
Is my data private?
Haviq is designed for private group events, with access depending on membership, attendance, role and the feature involved. Authorised participants can see relevant shared information, and Compass and its service providers process information to operate, secure and support Haviq. Other participants may save or export information they are entitled to access. We do not sell personal information or supply it to advertising networks for behavioural advertising. See our Privacy Policy for details.
Pricing
How much does Haviq cost?
Haviq has free core features and a Premium bundle unlocked for an individual event. Premium is not a subscription. Paid checkout is not currently available in the Beta; testers receive complimentary Premium access within the scope of their Beta grant.
When paid purchases are offered, the price, currency and applicable taxes will be shown before you confirm a purchase. Complimentary access never authorises a charge.
What's included for free?
- Menu planning and allergen warnings
- Voting on event decisions
- Bring list coordination
- Activity planning
- Group to-do lists
- Personal packing lists
- Guest management
- Event updates
Allergen warnings are planning aids, not a guarantee that food is safe. Confirm dietary requirements and ingredients directly with the people preparing or supplying food.
What's included in Premium?
- Shared expense tracking and splitting
- Settlement calculations and payment records
- Event group chat (Inbox)
- Carpool coordination
- A custom event background photo
Premium applies to the individual unlocked event, not every event on your account. Embedded route maps and one-tap payment transfers are not current features. Participants arrange actual payments outside Haviq.
Is Premium a subscription?
No. Premium is a one-time unlock for an individual event. It does not automatically unlock future events or promise that Haviq will operate forever. Any service changes, closure arrangements and applicable consumer remedies are covered by the Terms of Use.
Can I try Premium for free?
During Beta, testers receive complimentary Premium access under the scope and conditions communicated with their grant. This is not a paid subscription, a promise of unlimited free Premium for future events, or permission to charge you later.
How will paid purchases and refunds work?
When available, paid Premium purchases are processed through Apple’s App Store or Google Play, with the price and applicable terms shown before confirmation. Store refund routes do not replace Compass’s obligations under applicable consumer law. Contact support about a service problem or your statutory rights. See the Terms of Use.
Features
How does menu planning work?
Add dishes, meal types, ingredients and relevant allergen information, and coordinate who is bringing what. Haviq can show potential allergen conflicts to authorised participants. Information can be incomplete or out of date, and an empty allergen field does not mean someone has no allergies. Confirm dietary requirements, ingredients and cross-contact risks directly; do not rely solely on Haviq for a food-safety or medical decision.
How does voting work?
Create a vote for an event decision, such as a date, location or activity. Supported vote types include single choice, multiple choice and ranked choice. Members submit their choices, and results are shown according to the vote’s settings and closing rules. Ranked-choice votes use Borda scoring.
How do expenses work? (Premium)
Record shared expenses, receipts, participants and the relevant split settings. Haviq calculates allocations and suggested settlement amounts from the information supplied. Check those records and resolve disagreements with the participants involved.
Haviq does not hold or transfer participants’ money. Arrange payment outside the app. A payer’s payment report is not bank verification and does not itself reduce the recorded outstanding balance; only unreversed recipient confirmations do. Partial confirmations leave the remaining amount outstanding.
What is household-based splitting?
Household-based splitting lets relevant event costs be allocated using household participation rather than treating every person as an unrelated payer. Check the people, attendance and split settings for each expense. Adults manage household records, and appropriate authority is required when entering information about another person or a child.
How do carpools work?
Carpool is part of the Premium event bundle. Participants can coordinate ride offers, requests, available seats and pickup arrangements. Embedded route maps are not currently included. Haviq is not a transport service and does not verify drivers’ licences, insurance or vehicle suitability. Drivers and passengers must check their own arrangements and safety requirements.
Can I use Haviq offline?
Use Haviq with an internet connection for sign-in, loading current records, saving changes and receiving updates. Some previously loaded information may remain visible, but Haviq does not promise complete or current offline access. Reconnect before relying on event, expense or settlement records.
Invites & Members
How do I invite people?
Use the event’s invitation flow to enter the relevant details and share an invitation link through your chosen messaging app. Invitation eligibility is checked against the signed-in account and event records; forwarding a link does not automatically grant anyone access. Notifications depend on the recipient’s account, permissions and delivery availability.
Do invitees need Haviq installed?
Yes, invitees need an eligible Haviq account and access to an appropriate app build to join. An HTTPS invitation can open the app or show the website fallback. During controlled Beta, an invitation does not itself grant access to a public app-store download. Contact support if you need Beta access.
Can I remove someone from an event?
Organisers can use the available guest and invitation controls to manage participation. Removing access or withdrawing an invitation does not necessarily erase shared expense, attendance or accounting history, or recall information already delivered or copied. See the Privacy Policy for retention details.
Account & Privacy
How do I delete my account?
Open Settings, find the Account section and choose Delete account. If you cannot sign in, contact Haviq support through the contact form or support@haviqapp.com. We apply appropriate identity and authority checks.
Deletion removes sign-in access and initiates removal of private account information. It does not erase every shared record: names and event/accounting history may remain where lawfully needed. It does not cancel amounts owed, undo confirmed payments or erase saved/exported copies. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Do you sell my data?
No. We do not sell personal information, supply it to advertising networks for behavioural advertising or use it for promotional marketing. We do use service providers to operate Haviq, and relevant information is shared with authorised participants or otherwise disclosed where permitted or required by law. See the Privacy Policy.
What data do you collect?
Information can include account and phone-verification details, optional profile and recovery-email information, event and household records, messages, images, expenses and settlement history, device/push identifiers, support correspondence and technical service records. We use relevant records for service operation, security, support and reasonable internal analytics. The Privacy Policy explains purposes, providers, overseas processing, retention and your rights.
Can I add a recovery email?
Yes. You can add an optional email in Profile, attached privately to the same account. It must be confirmed before it is trusted for account assistance. Phone-code sign-in remains the normal method; verifying an email does not itself create another account or make self-service email sign-in or lost-phone recovery available. Contact support if you lose access.
What happens if an organiser deletes their account?
Some shared event and accounting records may remain available to authorised participants. If settlement is unfinished, the event may remain unarchived with invitations disabled. A replacement organiser is not automatically appointed, and unfinished organiser-only work is not guaranteed to be completable. Account deletion does not cancel participants’ outstanding obligations.
Does archiving delete an event?
No. Archiving is not deletion, does not settle payments and does not erase accounting history. Normal organiser archiving is blocked where unfinished expense or settlement records require the event to remain available. Retention must still have a lawful purpose; Haviq does not promise permanent event storage.
Are Inbox messages end-to-end encrypted?
No. Messages are processed and stored on Haviq’s backend for delivery to authorised participants. Authorised operational, support, security and legal access is possible as described in the Privacy Policy. Do not send passwords, authentication codes or payment-card credentials through Inbox.
Can I make a privacy request without an account?
Yes. Contact the Haviq support team through the contact form or support@haviqapp.com to request access, correction, removal or a review of retention. We assess identity, authority, lawful retention and other people’s rights. You do not have to create a Haviq account.
Where can I read the legal documents?
Read our Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. Their published V1 pages currently show Effective date: Pending. They are not yet effective. Check each document for its current version and effective date.
Technical
What are the system requirements?
Compatibility depends on the app build and platform. During Beta, follow the device and installation requirements supplied with your invitation. Public-release minimum versions will be confirmed with the relevant release.
Is Haviq available in my country?
Haviq’s initial rollout is limited to New Zealand. We may expand to other countries later, but no dates have been confirmed. Android and iOS access may become available at different times.
I found a bug. How do I report it?
Use the contact form or email support@haviqapp.com with what happened, what you expected, your device and app version, and screenshots if useful. Do not send passwords, SMS codes, live verification links or unnecessary private information. We assess reports, but cannot promise a particular fix date.
Can I suggest a feature?
Yes. Send your idea through the contact form or email support@haviqapp.com. We consider suggestions alongside reliability, safety and other priorities; submitting an idea does not guarantee it will be built.
